How to Remove a PTO Clutch

Here are the key steps to remove a PTO (power take-off) clutch for maintenance...

Unplug the electrical connection to the PTO clutch.

Remove the steering arm at the front of the tractor, being careful not to change tee adjustment.

If the clutch bolt is stuck, try using a round air hammer bit inserted into the socket and start hammering on the bolt.

This can help loosen a stubborn clutch bolt.

If the old clutch bolt has broken off flush in the crankshaft, you'll need to very carefully drill it out to remove the clutch.

Some sources recommend lifting the machine up on a lift to make the PTO clutch removal process easier.

After removing the clutch, inspect it for wear and damage, and replace any worn or damaged components.

When reinstalling the clutch, make sure to properly align and secure it, following the manufacturer's instructions.

The key is to take the necessary precautions, use the right tools, and carefully follow the steps to safely remove the PTO clutch for maintenance or replacement.
