To avoid tractor overturns, you must take the following precautions.
Install and use Roll-Over Protective Structures (ROPS) and always wear a seatbelt when operating a tractor equipped with ROPS. Avoid driving too close to ditches, embankments, or steep slopes. Stay at least as far from the edge as the depth of the ditch or slope.
Reduce speed when turning, crossing slopes, or on rough, slick, or muddy surfaces. The risk of upset increases significantly with higher speeds.
When using a front-end loader, keep the bucket as low as possible, especially when turning or transporting. Use engine braking when going downhill by shifting to a lower gear before starting the descent.
Avoid sudden starts, stops, and turns, particularly with heavy loads or implements attached. Lock brakes together before driving at high speeds to prevent uneven brake pressure, which can cause rollovers.
When operating on slopes:
Back up hills and drive forward down hills to maintain weight on the front wheels.
Avoid driving across steep slopes when possible.
If you must work on a slope, use the widest wheel spacing possible.
Be alert for potential hazards such as rocks, stumps, holes, and uneven terrain.
Never allow extra riders on the tractor.
Always start the engine from the operator's seat, not from the ground.
When using implements, hitch loads only to the drawbar and never higher, as this can cause rear rollovers.
By following these precautions, you can significantly reduce the risk of tractor overturns and improve overall safety during operation.
